it may help you but it didnt help my mood swings
some brand do make you gain but it all depnds on how your hormones react
pros
regulates period
dont have to worry about condom breakin
you control your period
cons
occasional spottting
have to remember to take it
i tried tri-sprintec, i absolutely hated it, i got extremely sick during my period, to the point i was in bed with a trash can waiting to puke, i couldn’t even attend school, it also caused me to gain a bit of weight but nothing dramatic after that i went on yasmin and that’s what im currently on, i love it, i perhaps gained two or three pounds and it seems to lessen the intensity of my cramps [ i have extremely heavy periods with severe cramps, runs in the family "/] and it also takes my pms down a notch.
The pill is a hormone supplement, so depending on what your personal hormone levels are like during your cycle it will affect you differently from someone who has different hormone levels than you and takes the same pill.
For me, I never really had PMS or terrible cramps. I started taking Ortho Tricyclin-Lo and it cleared up my skin nicely. With my health insurance it’s been on average $25-30 per month. I have my boyfriend pay for half of that, though.
Though I didn’t initially have PMS before taking the pill, there was a time a few years after I started the pill when I decided to go off of it. When I did go off of the pill, I started to have mood swings and cramps a lot. This was 3 years after starting, so I’m sure it’s because my hormone levels changed naturally… .since our bodies are still changing and maturing. I went back on the pill a few months afterwards because I realized how much better I felt on it and how much more it stabilized my cycle.
It never caused me to gain any weight, and personally I think that’s all in people’s heads when they say it. Doctor’s will tell you there’s a chance of retaining more water, but that’s still very low and if you retain water it wouldn’t be nearly enough to gain what some people claim (5 or 10lbs). It’s like retaining water if you eat a lot of salt in your diet, so I’d suggest if you’re worried at all just get into the habit of drinking more water throughout the day so that your body flushes excess water out.
That’s about all I got. Good luck, and make sure you take careful notice of how the pill affects you! If it’s not working or ruining things for you, try a different brand!
